The end of the last winter season was an anxious time for British holidaymakers - Not only did many have their holidays cancelled, but several are still waiting to receive their money back from other major tour operators and airlines.
Ski Miquel acted early on knowing that we have a duty of care and an obligation to ease the financial burden placed on our guests, so following the repatriation of our 100 or so guests and staff who were out in resort, we then focussed upon reimbursing our guests their holiday costs. This situation was unprecedented and not something we have ever had to deal with before, but as a small, independent and family-run business, we are proud to say we have arranged refunds for all of our guests whose holidays were cancelled prior to departure due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Ski Miquel's director, Ralph Johnson, said: "This has been a huge undertaking following the loss of 25% of our season and income, but we are committed to doing the right thing by our guests. With little to no assistance from the government for small independent travel operators, it is proving to be a serious challenge for all companies like us in the industry, but we remain upbeat for next winter when Ski Miquel will be celebrating its 40th birthday. We remain optimistic that the restrictions on our daily lives will have eased sufficiently to allow us to get back out to the mountains this coming season."
From our humble beginnings at the Chalet Miquel in Andorra 40 years ago until now, Ski Miquel have always put our guests first before everything else. As we prepare for next winter, we want you to know that, even in these strange times, this is still our top priority. With the restrictions on travel easing and our mountain resorts opening for their summer seasons, our sights are firmly set on another fantastic winter in the mountains.
We know things are a little different to last year, so we would like to show you how Ski Miquel are ensuring that when you book with us we are always looking out for you:
1) Your money is safe - Ski Miquel are fully financed and have ensured that all our guests who had to have their holidays cancelled prior to departure this year have been fully refunded or credits held. In the event of us having to cancel your holiday prior to departure due to government action then we are duty bound to fully refund your costs under the Package Travel Regulations. Your holiday costs would also be covered by our ATOL (1694) in the highly unlikely event of company failure.
2) Social distancing and hygiene - At Ski Miquel we always endeavour to "ski away from the crowds", but we also have plans in place to implement social distancing and extra hygiene measures within our chalet-hotels. If we find that such measures are still necessary by the time your holiday comes around then we will explain these processes to you in further detail.
